OSPR is taking you all the way back to NYC in the 50’s for some afterschool fun. We are playing stick ball on MacMurray Field. Using a tennis ball and a broom handle we will bring the fun of baseball and the nostalgia of stick ball to our 4th & 5th graders.

On Wednesday nights the gym is open to all adults to come and play pick-up style volleyball. This is a great opportunity to get out mid week and have a fun and active evening. The competition is friendly and usually we are able to play 3 to 4 matches each night.

Gentle Yoga is a Vinyasa-based class which blends breath with movement, balancing gentle stretches and openings with invigorating poses. Modifications encourage mixed-level students to work to their personal edge. Focus of this class is on stress release and re-energizing of body and mind.  Class Taught by : Terri Cain, BFA, MA, MDiv, certified Kripalu Yoga instructor; has lead students for over 20 years. Inspiration for her yoga classes comes from her background in dance, intensive training in Dance Therapy and Movement Analysis with Irmgard Bartenieff, founder of the Laban Institute of Movement Studies, studies in the Alexander Technique, and an ongoing exploration of spirituality and the arts (Master of Divinity -Yale/ Institute of Sacred Music.) Terri teaches group and private yoga for all ages. She brings her yoga off the mat as President of Guilford Community TV, and as Founding Partner and Manager of the Hubbard Community Garden at the Medad Stone Tavern

Kids learn how to groove to the rhythm of their favorite songs!  This program will have your child using their imagination and exploring a variety of movements, patterns, sounds and concepts.  This program is designed to introduce children to music and dance.

Students are invited to join OSPR in our afterschool fishing club at Crystal Lake in Clark Community Park.  Each participant will learn how to tie knots, rig their fishing poles, cast and reel in the big one!!  Class will meet at Town Park, at the basketball court.  If you do not have your own pole, please notify Jonathan Paradis at the Rec.

8:00 AM - 9:00 AM    High School Soccer Leagues and Clinics - Saturday Soccer Skills Clinic
OSPR is working to bring our high school athletes several opportunities throughout the year to work on their soccer skills or just have a good time with friends playing the world's most popular sport.  We have skill clinics and leagues, both indoor and outside, to keep everyone busy year round.Back for a 4th year is indoor futsal league.  This league will take place March through April.  Game Play - 5v5 (small sided, a lot of touches, skill development, fast pace games). We will use cones for goals which help with skill development and control as well as game strategy.In May we will have highschool soccer skills clinics at The Rec.Also, in June we will start our outdoor summer league at Ferry Rd. and Maple Ave. Ball field.  This will be an 6 week league.  We will play pick up style, small sided play.   Make sure your email address is accurate and that you check it for league updates, rosters, schedules, etc.

Photography basics for middle school students. In this course, you will learn how to work with your camera of choice. Learn how to use the settings on your SLR camera, point and shoot and your smart phone. Composing a photograph and basic concepts of photography will be taught. From a brief history of photography to printing your photos, we will cover the basics of photography and practice what we have learned each class whether indoors or out.

OSPR is working to bring our high school athletes several opportunities throughout the year to work on their soccer skills or just have a good time with friends playing the world's most popular sport.  We have skill clinics and leagues, both indoor and outside, to keep everyone busy year round.Back for a 4th year is indoor futsal league.  This league will take place March through April.  Game Play - 5v5 (small sided, a lot of touches, skill development, fast pace games). We will use cones for goals which help with skill development and control as well as game strategy.In May we will have highschool soccer skills clinics at The Rec.Also, in June we will start our outdoor summer league at Ferry Rd. and Maple Ave. Ball field.  This will be an 6 week league.  We will play pick up style, small sided play.   Make sure your email address is accurate and that you check it for league updates, rosters, schedules, etc.

The Park & Recreation Department will offer a Before & After Camp Care program. These extra hours are designed to provide supervision to youth in grade 1st – 5th whose parents work beyond the 9:00-4:00PM Camp time. We will staff from 8:00 –9:00 a.m. with a ratio of one staff to every 12 children. After Care will be available from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. with the same ratio. Staff is not on duty before 8:00 a.m. or after 5:30 p.m. Please make sure your child is dropped off or picked up between the hours listed below. Program takes place at the Recreation Center.

Yellow Shirt Volunteers Each and every summer the Summer Camp program invites children who are going into 8th, 9th 10th , 11th grade to become a Yellow Shirt counselor at the camp. A yellow shirt is a volunteer counselor, that aids the main staff in provided care for the children. Basic duties include set up/breakdown of games, bathroom breaks, group supervision on trips, being active in games, and much more. Yellow shirts will work one full week of the summer and can receive volunteer hours to fulfill school requirements. Sign up online or in the office for the week that you would like to volunteer. Gentle Yoga is a Vinyasa-based class which blends breath with movement, balancing gentle stretches and openings with invigorating poses. Modifications encourage mixed-level students to work to their personal edge. Focus of this class is on stress release and re-energizing of body and mind.  Class Taught by : Terri Cain, BFA, MA, MDiv, certified Kripalu Yoga instructor; has lead students for over 20 years. Inspiration for her yoga classes comes from her background in dance, intensive training in Dance Therapy and Movement Analysis with Irmgard Bartenieff, founder of the Laban Institute of Movement Studies, studies in the Alexander Technique, and an ongoing exploration of spirituality and the arts (Master of Divinity -Yale/ Institute of Sacred Music.) Terri teaches group and private yoga for all ages. Open to adults 30+ on Monday mornings at the Rec. Center. Pickleball is a racquet sport which combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. The sport is played on a court with the same dimensions as a doubles badminton court. The net is similar to a tennis net, but is mounted two inches lower. The game is played with a hard paddle and a polymer wiffleball. All equipment is provided so be ready to have fun.

Welcome to the 42nd annual Summer Concert Series brought to you by Guilford Savings Bank. We have 11 weeks of live music at the Town Green on Wednesdays night starting at 6:30pm and then on 5 Friday nights at Harvey's Beach starting at 7:00pm.We would like to thank all of our sponsors and community partners who help us bring this 16 show series to our residents for FREE. Bring a blanket and some chairs, pack a picnic and enjoy a great night of live music.This is a family friendly event and as with all of our parks and facilities, the use of alcohol and/or tobacco is prohibited.

The game is played with a hard paddle and a polymer wiffleball. All equipment is provided so be ready to have fun.

The Teen Center is a drop-in program at the OSPR Recreation Center behind Town Hall and adjacent to the Old Saybrook Middle School.  It is a supervised setting where your child can interact with peers and develop social skills and relationships.  We have a wide variety of activities and games offered daily.  Members are able to use the Teen Center lounge and game tables, the gym, as well as the outside basketball courts and baseball field.Members may attend the Rec Monday-Thursday from 2:30pm-5:30pm, starting on Tuesday, September 4th. OSPR is working to bring our high school athletes several opportunities throughout the year to work on their soccer skills or just have a good time with friends playing the world's most popular sport.  We have skill clinics and leagues, both indoor and outside, to keep everyone busy year round.Back for a 4th year is indoor futsal league.  This league will take place March through April.  Game Play - 5v5 (small sided, a lot of touches, skill development, fast pace games). We will use cones for goals which help with skill development and control as well as game strategy.In May we will have highschool soccer skills clinics at The Rec.Also, in June we will start our outdoor summer league at Ferry Rd. and Maple Ave. Ball field.  This will be an 6 week league.  We will play pick up style, small sided play.   Make sure your email address is accurate and that you check it for league updates, rosters, schedules, etc.

Inspiration for her yoga classes comes from her background in dance, intensive training in Dance Therapy and Movement Analysis with Irmgard Bartenieff, founder of the Laban Institute of Movement Studies, studies in the Alexander Technique, and an ongoing exploration of spirituality and the arts (Master of Divinity -Yale/ Institute of Sacred Music.) Terri teaches group and private yoga for all ages. She brings her yoga off the mat as President of Guilford Community TV, and as Founding Partner and Manager of the Hubbard Community Garden at the Medad Stone Tavern

OSPR is excited to offer a new full day camp this summer for children entering grades 6th-9th.  This camp will be instructed by OSMS Physical Educator Katelyn Flannagan, who is pursuing her Master's Degree in outdoor education.  This camp will inforce great skills such as leadership, skill building while improving self confidence through ice breakers and other activities.This program will take place at OSMS gym and will use both the indoor and outdoor high and low ropes course.  This is a challenge by choice program.

Register for camp this summer and enjoy a week of fun & games! Camp is Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00am - 4:00pm at the Recreation Center. Mondays we head downtown on our Main Street Stroll, Wednesdays, Mini Golf and Town Beach and on Fridays we head out for a Field Trip. Space is limited.Monday- Rec Day/Main Street StrollWednesday- Saybrook Point Mini Golf/Town BeachFriday-Field Trip!Sessions 2, 3, 5, 6,8 & 9 of our Field Trips will be on Wednesday and Mini Golf/Town Beach will be on Friday.Registration Form must be completed and handed in by the Campers first day!For Session dates, please see below.

Sessions are open to all residents entering 1st -5th Grade. Summer camp is a series of one week programs that will feature field games, sport activities, arts-N-crafts, trips and special events. Program held Monday-Friday 9:00-4:00PM. Program takes place at the Recreation Center. NO CAMP JULY 4th. For Session dates, please see below.Tuesday is beach day as we spend the afternoon's at Harvey's Beach in town.Wednessday is mini golf day at Saybrook Point Miniature Golf.Each Thursday we go on our special field trips.  Please see the link below for all field trip information.
 
9:00 AM - 4:00 PM    Yellow Shirt Volunteer Counselor - Yellow Shirt Session 2
Yellow Shirt Volunteers Each and every summer the Summer Camp program invites children who are going into 8th, 9th 10th , 11th grade to become a Yellow Shirt counselor at the camp. A yellow shirt is a volunteer counselor, that aids the main staff in provided care for the children. Basic duties include set up/breakdown of games, bathroom breaks, group supervision on trips, being active in games, and much more. Yellow shirts will work one full week of the summer and can receive volunteer hours to fulfill school requirements. Sign up online or in the office for the week that you would like to volunteer. Space is limited in each session. YOU CAN SIGN UP FOR ONLY ONE SESSION!!!!
 
10:00 AM - 5:00 PM    Summer Teen Trips for 7th-12th Graders - Lake Compounce
Do you have a 7th-12th grader that isn't interested in summer camp, but is still looking for something fun and exciting to do this summer? OSPR will be offering a variety of trips that will be sure to entertain teens of all ages. Make sure to check out the 9 trips, there is something for everyone!

4:00 PM - 5:30 PM    After Camp Care - After Care Session 2
The Park & Recreation Department will offer a Before & After Camp Care program. These extra hours are designed to provide supervision to youth in grade 1st – 5th whose parents work beyond the 9:00-4:00PM Camp time. We will staff from 8:00 –9:00 a.m. After Care will be available from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. Staff is not on duty before 8:00 a.m. or after 5:30 p.m. Please make sure your child is dropped off or picked up between the hours listed below. Program takes place at the Recreation Center.
 
5:00 PM - 7:00 PM    Volleyball Camp - Volleyball Camp
This 4 night clinic will give new and returning players the opportunity to develop their individual skills as well as to learn and refine the team aspects of the game. This clinic is designed to help players of all abilities improve on the fundamentals of the game. Our goal is to help each player achieve their goals. To leave our clinic with better skills, more confidence, and a wider knowledge about the sport of volleyball. 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM    Yoga - Beach Yoga with Terri Cain
Gentle Yoga is a Vinyasa-based class which blends breath with movement, balancing gentle stretches and openings with invigorating poses. Modifications encourage mixed-level students to work to their personal edge. Focus of this class is on stress release and re-energizing of body and mind.  Class Taught by : Terri Cain, BFA, MA, MDiv, certified Kripalu Yoga instructor; has lead students for over 20 years. Inspiration for her yoga classes comes from her background in dance, intensive training in Dance Therapy and Movement Analysis with Irmgard Bartenieff, founder of the Laban Institute of Movement Studies, studies in the Alexander Technique, and an ongoing exploration of spirituality and the arts (Master of Divinity -Yale/ Institute of Sacred Music.) Terri teaches group and private yoga for all ages. She brings her yoga off the mat as President of Guilford Community TV, and as Founding Partner and Manager of the Hubbard Community Garden at the Medad Stone Tavern

Welcome to the 42nd annual Summer Concert Series brought to you by Guilford Savings Bank. We have 11 weeks of live music at the Town Green on Wednesdays night starting at 6:30pm and then on 5 Friday nights at Harvey's Beach starting at 7:00pm.We would like to thank all of our sponsors and community partners who help us bring this 16 show series to our residents for FREE. Bring a blanket and some chairs, pack a picnic and enjoy a great night of live music.This is a family friendly event and as with all of our parks and facilities, the use of alcohol and/or tobacco is prohibited.
