Hit the trails at 9 a.m. at The Preserve State Forest. Join a walking group or run the trails. There will be water stops, trail maps, updates on the evolving forest trail system. Start at the parking lot across the street from #231 Ingham Hill Road in Old Saybrook. More details are to follow in the OSPR newsletter and the Woods & Trails newsletter. Registration required.

Join the Old Saybrook Conservation Commission
Come out and join the commission for trail marking and cleanup at Great Cedars West. Meet at the parking lot next to 155 Ingham Hill Road in Old Saybrook. Wear boots, bring water, and insect protection. No dogs, please. Children over 8 years old are welcome. Learn about evolving master plans for Old Saybrook’s network of woodland trails. Registration required.

Winter Solstice Walk
Celebrate the shortest daytime of the year by walking at The Preserve State Forest. This moderately paced walk follows a loop around The Preserve, ending at the Pequot bog overlook in time to watch the solstice sunset. Moderately smooth terrain, with a few rocky or hilly areas. Wear boots, bring water, remember insect repellent. Walking sticks are recommended. Rain or snow cancels the event. Gather at 2:15 at the Ingham Hill Road parking lot in Old Saybrook, across the street from #231 Ingham Hill Road. No dogs, please. Children over 8 years old are welcome. Registration required.
