Come join us outside to spread the empowering energy of dance on the beautiful town green! This adult class will offer a thorough warm up, followed by moving through space expansively and buoyantly as part of a movement community. Please bring water; footwear optional.

COVID-19 Protocols
  • A Mask or cloth face covering must be worn coming and going from the program.
  • You will be required to maintain a minimum 6' distance from others participating in the program and our staff.
  • Please bring your own water bottles.
  • Please plan accordingly as there will not be an open bathroom on the green.

Instructor - Chloe Carlson
Chloe Carlson, an Old Saybrook resident, directs GUSTO Dance through which she shares her lifelong passion for dance through performing, teaching and choreographing. She has taught dance for decades to movers of all ages and backgrounds. Chloe believes that dance should be everywhere, so she performs and teaches both in conventional venues and more unusual settings like art galleries, parks and sidewalks. An alumna of Mount Holyoke College and UCONN Law School, she feels fortunate to spread the empowering, transformative magic of dance!

Modern Dance in the Park—Intermediate/Advanced Level:
  • Focus on spaciousness, buoyancy, artistic expression and the joy of dancing together
  • Warm-up followed by vigorous and free-flowing movement
  • Primarily postmodern/release and Limon influences
  • Previous formal dance training strongly recommended

Dance for Joy
  • This is an open level class.
  • Let’s refresh our spirits and shake off the challenges of the last year with some uplifting, energizing dancing! We will focus on full-body movement that is both freeing and grounding, and influenced by yoga, modern dance, and social dancing. The class also fosters creativity and artistic expression. And we will be dancing together, in person—what a joy!
  • Previous experience with yoga, modern dance, ballet or Jazzercise recommended.
