This season we embark upon the practice of a Soft Way of Zen Work, one of the most comprehensive routines of healthful movements practiced today. Stephen Watson of Clinton’s SomedayFarm.org leads us through Meditative Motions from across the greater world of Tai Chi. This internal exercise system was developed as a meditative Martial Art with an emphasis on softness, continuity, and breath regulation. It has historically been practiced by senior monks to preserve vitality and martial skill into later life. The series is a form of internal reservoir cultivation, mind clarifying, and spirit revivifying that consists of twelve movements designed to improve health, emotional buoyancy, and vitality. Each sequence focuses on a different structure or system of the body and helps to promote the smooth flow of our vital life energy (our vivaciousness, our verve and our joi de vivre.) The practice is gentle and can be done slowly (like Tai Chi) or swiftly - in either case with an emphasis made on smoothness and clarity of intent. This Temple-derived series is accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels. In fact, it is primarily practiced for health maintenance and is particularly popular among older practitioners due to its gentle nature and comprehensive health benefits. This enjoyable and challenging exercise series is understood to develop Qì reserves, concentration, balance, and deep relaxation. The game is played with a hard paddle and a polymer wiffleball.In our OPEN PLAY programs players are required to play with all skill levels and not cut in the paddle line.This program is for players who have played or have a complete understanding of rules and the sport.

Games and drills will be organized to build up proper dribbling mechanics for multiple surfaces of the foot, passing, receiving, and striking the ball with laces and instep of the foot. Games will be played to build upon skills learned in class and basic tactics like 1v1 situations where players with gain experience in proper attacking and defending.

Instructional Lessons (Ages 18+) These programs will teach the skills and strategies of the sport based on your skill level. These are programs for anyone who is just starting or has yet to master the sport.  Beginner/Advanced Beginner: New or relatively inexperienced player who is still inconsistent, learning the rules and basic strokes.Intermediate: Players can consistently execute fundamental shots like serves, groundstrokes, and volleys with some depth and control, understands the basic rules, and can engage in a fast-paced rally

Bump, Set, Spike! This 5 night clinic is an instructional program designed to introduce kids to the sport of volleyball. The program will consist of instruction time as well as game play. The program will take place at OSPR.

Pickleball is a racquet sport which combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. The sport is played on a court with the same dimensions as a doubles badminton court. The net is similar to a tennis net, but is mounted two inches lower. The game is played with a hard paddle and a polymer wiffleball.In our OPEN PLAY programs players are required to play with all skill levels and not cut in the paddle line.This program is for players who have played or have a complete understanding of rules and the sport.

This season we embark upon the practice of a Soft Way of Zen Work, one of the most comprehensive routines of healthful movements practiced today. Stephen Watson of Clinton’s SomedayFarm.org leads us through Meditative Motions from across the greater world of Tai Chi. This internal exercise system was developed as a meditative Martial Art with an emphasis on softness, continuity, and breath regulation. It has historically been practiced by senior monks to preserve vitality and martial skill into later life. The series is a form of internal reservoir cultivation, mind clarifying, and spirit revivifying that consists of twelve movements designed to improve health, emotional buoyancy, and vitality. Each sequence focuses on a different structure or system of the body and helps to promote the smooth flow of our vital life energy (our vivaciousness, our verve and our joi de vivre.) The practice is gentle and can be done slowly (like Tai Chi) or swiftly - in either case with an emphasis made on smoothness and clarity of intent. This Temple-derived series is accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels. In fact, it is primarily practiced for health maintenance and is particularly popular among older practitioners due to its gentle nature and comprehensive health benefits. This enjoyable and challenging exercise series is understood to develop Qì reserves, concentration, balance, and deep relaxation. The Softness in its title and at its core refers to suppleness and pliability, not weakness. This makes it suitable for rehabilitation, injury recovery, and elder practice.
